As Chief Compliance Officer at Dakota Wealth, Kayla Berg leads the firm’s regulatory compliance strategy, aligning rigorous adherence with strategic growth and operational excellence. She adeptly navigates complex federal and state RIA regulations, oversees thorough due diligence for acquisition targets, and ensures compliance integration across all organizational levels.
Kayla fosters open communication throughout Dakota Wealth, regularly engaging with team members on policies and procedures while actively monitoring key industry developments. Her proactive, solutions-oriented approach has been integral to supporting the firm’s expansion. Known for her approachable leadership style, Kayla is a trusted resource for advisors navigating complex regulatory matters.
Before joining Dakota, Kayla served as Senior Compliance Consultant at Advisor Assist, where she delivered regulatory consulting and acted as outsourced CCO for a diverse client base. Her expertise included registrations, examinations, policy development, regulatory interpretation, M&A compliance, contract reviews, and risk assessments.
Her relationship with Dakota began earlier, when she supported the firm as a Compliance Consultant and Vice President at Compliance Advisor Professionals, LLC. Her deep knowledge of SEC, FINRA, and state regulatory frameworks was pivotal during Dakota’s key acquisition initiatives.
Kayla holds the Investment Adviser Certified Compliance Professional (IACCP®) designation and is an active member of the National Society of Compliance Professionals (NSCP). She earned a Bachelor of Science in Accounting and Management from Bridgewater State University.
Kayla resides in Central Texas with her husband, daughters, and their beloved boxers. A lifelong animal enthusiast and accomplished equestrian, she shares her passion for horses and the outdoors by teaching horseback riding to her daughters. When she’s not riding, Kayla can often be found at the softball field, passing on her love for the game to her daughter.
